"… is Astonishment; and astonishment is that state of the soul, in which all its motions are suspended, with some degree of horror. In this case the mind is so entirely filled with its object, that it cannot entertain any other.” (Edmund Burke, 1757)“Returning from afar, his agile steps awake the wooden floor. A slim shadow rose from the corner and slowly reaches to the sound, but her pupil did not manage to focus onto him. “Tell Me Dear, what have you seen in the southern tip, in a city that has soared into the sky?”
He gently took her wrinkly hand and said, “I saw the hot summer sun beaming on the shimmering façade of ten thousand faceted panels, reflecting the light, heat and sound into the surrounding space, so humid that the air has turned solid. The marching crowd of students enters the building like an endless stream, trying to reach the shade from the burning glaze. The city, growing out from the origin of civilization, elevated from the yellow soil and sprang up beyond the blue sky. Its size would enclose the earth and the clouds, stretching from the mountains to the harbour.
The civic columns land onto the ground every five hundred steps, with grand mountains at the four corners, automatically bringing you up to the top. By travelling up with the elevator, one will experience the darkest of origin to the brightest of hope, where one’s gaze will vanish into the horizon. Each room and space within the city is two-sided, one side to look within the time that has been frozen, and the other into the mountain and ocean. When the wind blows from the North, metal sheets will shimmer, forming waves of light, akin to the ocean.”
