In 2015, what emerges is that an image of a space in complex transformation, a series of co-operations and competitions have arisen from the different social conditions that operates in a wide set of relationship between mainland and Hong Kong.Since 1997, there are rapid developments that have reshaped the territories of south coast of China through cultural, economic and political factors.
These transformations could also be reflected in wide ranges of formed material spaces. It is believe that knowledge production could intervene with the linear sets of relations. Taking the advantage of close proximity between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, there has been a new kind of educational partnership system emerged, such as the mainland institutions in research projects and in offering joint programs, new educational ventures in Shenzhen include Shenzhen University, South University of Science and Technology of China, and the Shenzhen campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which is one of the first exemplars, as well as other partnerships with world-famous universities. In order to strengthen the capacity of social economic development in south coast of China, Hong Kong and Shenzhen are always seeking the innovation of knowledge production, however, it raises the fundamental question – are their spatial organizations and the administrations prepared for the further development? It remains a challenge.
The exhibition invites all of us to reconsider the complex knowledge infrastructure and its space which including architecture, environment and policy: these contribute to the challenges towards a sustainable and integrated urban management for our daily life.
