This exhibition will use the recyclable materials collected in Urban Villages to create various products that serve as examples of Human-Centered Design that were successfully implemented in other parts of the world. These products will be built with local resources the urban villages to illustrate internationally acclaimed design solutions to the visitors. The core message of the project is that, we already have a critical mass of innovative products that are transforming urban dwellings globally. The need to collect and centralize all of them in a meaningful
way, using local resources has the potential to transform Urban Villages in China and in low income neighborhoods globally. The workshop space will serve as a building and exhibition space where visitors can help participate in the design and building of various products. A garden area will feature a vertical garden structure with a small part of the garden roofed of with a low cost bottle light solution. Various products like chairs and tables, a boat, a water filtration system, wind wheels creating electricity for LEDs, upside down tomato plants, toys among many others featured in the garden and in the workshops space.
